SNCF 2-car diesel multiple unit X 4790
orange and grey livery
The SNCF X 4790 series (X 4790–4796) represents the pinnacle of the "Caravelle" multiple unit family (EAD). Equipped with a 440 kW Saurer engine, these double multiple units were the first to reach 140 km/h. From 1981 onwards, primarily used in regional services in Lower Normandy, they retained the classic rounded Caravelle front, but differed in their modernized interiors, modified ventilation grilles, and special windows. The model described here represents this most refined version.
