The war dispersed the express train wagons across Europe, and there were larger holdings outside the German railways, among others, at ÖBB, SNCF and PKP. At DB and DR, the cars remained indispensable in the district traffic until the end of the 1970s and thus became more than forty years old. Until the 1960s, they were also used internationally and came from Scandinavia to the Balkans. There were numerous conversions, among other things to sleep-, food-, buffet- and half-luggage-cars. For the anniversary in 1985, DB worked out a complete train of several different express train wagons. Unfortunately, these cars are now scattered over several locations and only a few of them are operational.
