Prototype: The Austrian Federal Railways were handed over to the German Reichsbahn on 18 March 1938 by the Law and the Federal Railway Directorates were converted to Reichsbahn divisions. The Reichsbahn Central Office in Berlin gave 25 November 1938 a renumbering of all locomotives BBÖ. It stipulated that from the series 178, the series was 92.22, which were numbered with numbers 92 2211 to 92 in 2294.
