Prototype: German Railroad, Inc. (DB AG) class 187.1 electric locomotive (TRAXX AC 3). Built by Bombardier as a regular production locomotive from the TRAXX 3 type program.

Model: This electric locomotive is constructed of metal and has an mfx/DCC digital decoder and extensive sound functions. It has a special motor, centrally mounted. 4 axles powered by means of cardan shafts. Traction tires. The locomotive has triple headlights and dual red marker lights that will work in conventional operation and that can be controlled digitally. The headlights at Locomotive End 2 and 1 can be turned off separately in digital operation. When the headlights at both ends are turned off, then the "Double 'A' Light" function is on at both ends. Warm white and red LEDs are used for the lighting. There are 2 mechanically working pantographs (no power pickup from catenary). Length over the buffers 21.7 cm / 8-1/2".

    Highlights:

    • Completely new tooling for the modern Bombardier TRAXX 3 electric locomotive.
    • Version with imitation flex panels on the sides of the locomotive.
    • Detailed, affordable beginner's model with extensive features.

    Top-level modern electric locomotive. September 30, 2018  Rating: 5

Model features chassis and detailed carbody of metal. Separately applied parts of plastic. Underframe well detailed. The pantographs have to be raised and lowered manually, since they can not be triggered by the DCC controller. A spring will keep them in raised or lovered position. Model is assemblied and ready to run, no part adding is necesary. Will work on DCC and standard DC. Tested with the Roco z21 system and worked fine. Digital functions available from F0 to F14. Can be programmed as desired via CV programming. Locomotive with sound. Locomotive comes with the regular Marklin-Trix coupler, compatible with the standard NEM coupler. Work good for me, but can be changed if desired. Blackened metal wheels detailed with grooves and notches, simulating the resilent wheel. The wheels have the NEM profile, will work on code 83 and code 100 track, tested in Roco Geoline and Kato Unitrack tracks and works fine.
