Series 151 was released on account of higher performance requirements in heavy and fast freight in 1972 as a further development of the 150 (until 1968: E 50), the series 151 of your construction were new key data of Railway Construction and Operation (EBO ) 1967 based, which ROCHE for freight speeds up to 120 km / h and tensile loads up to 2,000 tonnes. These values ??could only be reached by a locomotive with 5,000 kW power, so that a mere revision of the 150 series was eliminated from the outset. For the Konstruktion the 151 Krupp and AEG zeichneten verantwortlich. In the interest of standardization they retrenched the proven traction motors of series 110 and 140, but had to develop to the desired performance enhancement whole new method of isolation and heat dissipation. Nevertheless, the locomotive was so heavy with the inevitable new, more powerful main transformer and the increased electrical resistance brake, that the required axle load could be maintained only by an extreme application of lightweight construction. The driving cabs were the latest findings anatomically designed seats and air conditioning. Mandatory was to be fitted with wear buffer beams, which allowed an extension of central buffer couplings easily. The proven bogies of the 150 accounted for and new welded lightweight steel were constructed. Could be taken from the series 103 the box support and the wheel set by Lemniskatenlenker. Conserves the proven rubber ring spring drive. The control of the traction motor voltage now got a 29-stage high-voltage controller with thyristor circuit breakers. The first was delivered on 21 November 1972 151 001. Until 1977 170 machines, which even came first passenger trains throughout the country and partly used originated at Krupp, Henschel, Krauss-Maffei, AEG, Siemens and the BBC. The 151089-122 owned and some of them have still an automatic clutch ("Unicupler") and ran for many years mostly in double traction from heavy ore trains in the relations Hamburg-Beddingen (5,700 t), Venlo-Dillingen (5,130 t) and Moers -Linz (3,220 t). After 2009, only to Unfallloks the retirement were fallen, there was now due to the economic and financial crisis turnarounds on a larger scale, so that the use of six-axle stock plummeted in the last four years to just over half. But a new field found the 151er with private transport companies.
