The BB 15000 is a French electric locomotive series for use on the 25 kV 50 Hz AC electrified network. The design of the locomotives with the so-called "nez cassé" (broken nose) is the work of the Frenchman Paul Arzens, who was responsible for the design of several SNCF locomotives at that time. Between 1971 and 1976, Alstom built a total of 65 locomotives. These were the first French mainline locomotives with two driver's cabs and only one pantograph, and were the last SNCF electric locomotives designed exclusively for the AC system.
