BLS Ce 4/4 312, Era VI "BLS Historic" with multi-protocol sound decoder
Since the branch lines, thanks to the renewed and reinforced track superstructure, allowed for higher axle loads, the Ce 4/6 308–317 units were converted to Ce 4/4 locomotives between 1954 and 1956. During this conversion, the front sections and the leading axles were removed. This increased the adhesive weight and tractive effort, even though the overall weight was reduced.
Since 2013, Ce 4/4 312 has been part of the BLS AG historic vehicle fleet and received a new car body. In 2023, it became the property of the BLS Foundation. The locomotive is not operational and can be viewed as a museum piece in the BLS Foundation's historic depot in Burgdorf as part of a guided tour.
