Prototype: Two-part battery traction unit ETA 180 DB, epoch III, Betr.-Nr. ETA 180 018. Since 1907/08, the Prussian-Hessian State Railways and, in parallel, the Reichseisenbahnen in Alsace-Lorraine successfully used the battery powered by Gustav Wittfeld. As a second, fixed unit they had 6 - 14 places 2nd class, 36 places 3rd class and 26 places 4th class. With the standing places it was even 106 places. From 1948, the battery traction units, which had been severely destroyed by the effects of war, were again fundamentally reprocessed.
