Product Features and Details
Since the German Reichsbahn couldn't do without the Class 99.73-76 locomotives, which were widespread in Saxony, some of these locomotives were modernized towards the end of the 1960s. Firstly, they received a complete overhaul, and secondly – and this was immediately noticeable – new water and coal bunkers, which were welded instead of riveted. These locomotives carried the main load on many narrow-gauge lines with higher traffic volumes. The SDG (Saxon Steam Railway Company) also operates this powerhouse on all three of its lines: the Fichtelberg Railway, the Lößnitzgrund Railway, and the Weißeritz Valley Railway. In addition to regular scheduled steam trains, the SDG also offers special events. Among other things, the "Bimmelbahn & Lichterglanz" (Narrow-Gauge Railway & Sparkling Lights) event takes place on the Weißeritz Valley Railway in winter. Our model plays with this theme, not only in its appearance but also with its sound effects. Prepare to be surprised.
Model of the SDG narrow-gauge steam locomotive 99 1734-5 (a locomotive of the 99.73-76 series, formerly Saxon VII K), faithfully painted and lettered according to Era VI.
The 51 cm long model is powered by two powerful, ball-bearing motors. Equipped with traction tires and an mfx/DCC decoder, it offers numerous light and sound functions, such as directional headlights, firebox illumination, cab lighting, running sounds, a whistle, and much more. The built-in smoke generator with wheel-synchronized steam output and cylinder steam perfectly creates the illusion of a hard-working steel beast. Many separately applied details, including opening cab and smokebox doors, contribute to the prototypical authenticity. For a winter theme, the included Christmas tree decoration can be mounted on the smokebox door.
Suitable carriages for this locomotive are passenger carriages 31390 and 31391.
