Prototype: Type 2'C1'h3: 10: The DRG needed powerful locomotives with a top speed of 150 km / h for the express train network that was being developed. Schwartzkopff ordered a 2'C1 'locomotive with a triple-engine and streamlined fairing modeled on the 05 series for heavy-duty fast trains in the lowlands. The two-axle drivetrain engine ensured high starting tractive effort and smooth running at high speeds. The BR 01.10 got streamlined fairing. The engine, pumps and smoke chamber were accessible through blinds and flaps. For operational reasons, the engine cowling was cut back to 225 mm above the coupling axle center. The top speed has been reduced from 150 to 140 km / h. All 01.10 received the main investigation from 1949 to 1951, in which the streamlining was removed. Except for the 01 1067, which had been retired in 1948, the DB has taken over all the other 54 locomotives of the class 01.10. However, the boilers made from the boiler material St 47 K soon showed signs of fatigue in the material and had to be replaced. The new, welded high-performance boiler with combustion chamber, which corresponded to those of the Series 01 (conversion DB), manufactured Henschel. The installation took place from 1953 to 1957 in AW Braunschweig. The boilers were equipped with mixed pre-heater systems of the type Heinl. The 01 1095 got only in March 1962 the new boiler, since she had 1953 the boiler of the 01 193 received, which consisted of age-resistant steel K 35. The new booster locomotives were stationed at Bw Hagen-Eckesey, Bebra, Kassel and Offenburg; From 1955 most of the machines were concentrated at the Bw Osnabrück and replaced the 03 series. Between 1956 and 1958 34 locomotives received oil main firing. According to the EDP numbering plan 1968, the rust-fired locomotives were given the class designation 011, the oil-fired the designation 012. Auslauf-Bw for all remaining 01.10 was Rheine. The mission ended in 1975/76. The 01 1066 is still operational with the Ulm railroad friends, the 01 1102 has been rebuilt as a reconstructed Stromlinienlok since 1996 and can be visited today in the Southwest German Railway Museum in Heilbronn.
