Some of the first fast train coaches of the new design programme of the DB were the commonly named "Coaches with center entry". They had a new standard length of 26.4 m and were deigned for the direct passenger transport and for long haul operations over medium distances. The coaches had 4 doors on each side so any stopover times at the stations were cut short. This way the passengers were able to quickly enter and exit the trains - especially during commuter traffic rush hours - this was a big advantage to them. To complete the coach, a cab control car for push-pull trains was developed. This car had a driver's cab in the entry area and also an additional service area. The maximum permitted speed of the car was 120 km / h. The last coaches of this type fortunately have been preserved for the use in museums and still are used for special train services.
