The Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon-Bahn (BLS) ordered a further developed universal locomotive based on the SBB Re 460 from the Swiss companies SLM Winterthur and ABB Zurich under the series designation 465. In contrast to the Re 460, the locomotives not only have one converter per bogie, but also one converter per axis. In this way, the tensile force can be optimally applied to the rail. The BLS use the 18 locomotives mainly in freight transport, but also in front of the commute trains.
