In the autumn of 2023, the MAV Group signed a contract with Akiem for the rental of 15 locomotives of the type ES 64 U2 to replace older locomotives of the V43 series. In contrast to the MAV's own locomotives of this type, the machines formerly owned by MRCE are equipped with ETCS. They hold approval for Hungary, Austria, Germany, Romania, Croatia and Serbia.
