Information about the model
At the end of World War II, electric train operations in Central Germany collapsed, and many of the remaining systems and locomotives were taken to the Soviet Union as reparations. Following an agreement between the young GDR and the USSR, some of the transported locomotives returned to the Deutsche Reichsbahn (East German State Railway) in the early 1950s. Among them were parts of the E95 series, which had previously been based in Silesia. Three locomotives were subsequently rebuilt by the Dessau Railway Works (RAW Dessau) and were primarily used in heavy freight service.
