After countless hours of planning and decades of projects and discussions, the Viennese city railway was built in 1898. Instead of the planned six lines, only four were built with a distance of around 39 km away. The main part of the costs covered by the state, along with the city of Vienna and Lower Austria were involved in the construction. According to this distribution of costs during the construction and urban planning considerations played only a minor role, but the military strategists came to the train. Therefore, there was neither a direct route to the center, yet was put on the electric traction already possible for urban transport. This had a wheelbase of 5000 mm, a high arched roof, steam heating, vacuum brake and a brown wooden planking with the characteristic double windows. Your form was used as a model for many other coaches for local railways. Later, the roof ends were partially being executed and the bodies provided with a metal cover. After the lease and electrification of part of the rail by the City of Vienna, they also worried regional traffic in the Vienna region. 1941 found both genera still among the ranks number 206,541 to 207,117 (ex Cu) and 207,701 to 207,838 (ex CDU) Inclusion in the number range of the DRG.
