As a further development of the E77 ordered the DRG 1926 more electric locomotives for use in the southern and central German network. While the electrical equipment remained almost unchanged, a new one-piece vehicle frame was designed with the wheelbase 1'BB1'. The changes to the drive set the maximum speed limit at 70 km / h and hoped for better usability in mixed plans for freight and passenger trains. Of the planned 79 locomotives, the E75 01-12 reached southern Germany. The E75 51-69 were delivered to Leipzig West, Wahren, Bitterfeld and Magdeburg-Buckau.
