Headed by BRAWA's magnificent 40994 Class 01 008 Digital EXTRA steam locomotive with factory-installed DCC and sound, and accompanied by six beautifully detailed Roco Era II DRG express coaches equipped with ESU interior lighting, this complete consist captures the atmosphere of one of the most fascinating periods in German railway history.
At the head of the train is the extraordinary BRAWA 40994 BR 01 008, representing one of the first Class 01 express locomotives built for the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft. Borsig built 01 008 as its 12,000th locomotive, and it was handed over to the DRG in 1926. It was one of only ten pre-series Class 01 locomotives, which differed in several important details from the later production locomotives, including their noticeably longer cabs.
Even more striking is the locomotive's beautiful original delivery paint scheme. Unlike the familiar black-and-red appearance later associated with German steam locomotives, 01 008 was originally finished according to the older Prussian color specifications in an elegant combination of brown-green, red-brown and deep black, accented with fine black lining. This makes BRAWA 40994 an especially distinctive model and a true centerpiece for any Era II collection.

ESU Interior Lighting Included!
To make this train even more spectacular, all of the Roco coaches will include ESU interior lighting kits for realistic illumination. The warm and convincing interior illumination dramatically enhances the beautifully detailed coach interiors and transforms the appearance of the entire train.
Once illuminated, passengers can enjoy the effect of light glowing naturally through the individual compartment, corridor and dining-car windows. The MITROPA dining car is particularly impressive when illuminated, bringing its interior to life and recreating the inviting appearance of a dining car traveling through Germany after dark.
The lighting also allows the fine interior details of the Roco coaches to be appreciated in a way that simply isn't possible with an unlit train. Whether the consist is standing beneath a station canopy, passing through a city scene at dusk or traveling across the layout at night, the illuminated coaches add an entirely new level of realism.
