DR Class 250 electric locomotive with pantographs, dark red livery
The Arnold model represents the standard version with small front and side windows and is equipped with a sound decoder.
The Class 250 of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, later designated Class 155 by DB AG, was the flagship of heavy freight service and became known as the "energy container" due to its angular design. Built from 1977 onwards by LEW Hennigsdorf, these six-axle electric locomotives were primarily intended for heavy freight trains, especially lignite transport, but were also used for express trains.
Even after reunification, they remained indispensable for a long time and shaped German rail freight transport until they were gradually replaced by more modern locomotive classes in the new millennium.
