The noble Ro 80 - its contemporary Türkismetallic pleases
This Ro 80 captures the contemporary design favors of the early 1970s. The NSU Ro 80, the WIKING this time turquoiseetallic lacquered and equipped with brown interior, is an example why the Neckarsulmer sedan was so special. In combination with the already present-looking silver trim and the future car body line, the Ro 80 fell into the eye. 18 years, the NSU Ro 80 was once under the model number "12r" at WIKING, later under "128" a permanent race. It is therefore no surprise to see that from WIKING forms to today really much more NSU Ro 80 from the line ran than in Neckarsulm, where the production of the original 1977 after 37,402 units was discontinued. The project "Wankelmotor" had been placed on the file, the name NSU disappeared at the time from the delivery program of Audi. The Ro 80 appeared in October 1967 with a streamlined body, which in its time seemed unfamiliar. As one of the few standard cars he had a Wankelmotor, the proud 115 hp. This engine made problems in the initial phase due to frequent failures, which the manufacturer attempted to counter with a cool engine exchange. Nevertheless, the reputation of the new model and the Wankelmotor suffered considerably.
