The introduction of the four-axle fast train coach (see L334565-67) and the longer distances associated with this generated the need for larger, three-axle baggage wagons. Consequently, a total of 31 wagons with gangway bellows for express and fast train services were built during the period 1902-03. In 1908 a series of 68 wagons followed according to the same plans, but without wagon gangways and intended to replace the baggage wagons from the 19th century. The gangway bellows were probably replaced in the twenties by a folding grille as in the conversion plan of 1930 they appear as Pw3i-Bad 02, 03. Of the 31 wagons built, the 116566 was the last to go in September 1962. Some other experienced a rebirth in the form of the threeaxle conversion wagon.
