Prototype: The first four-axle railcars of the SS type with a maximum load capacity of 35 tons were already built in 1913. They had twelve stakes, and the loading length of 15 meters was based on the then-common rail length (later 18 meters). The railcars of the SS type with the SS classification were assigned to the Cologne classification district. Some of these railcars survived World War II and were incorporated into the DB as SS 15 and into the DR as SS 65.
