Based on: The Zürich S-Bahn was opened on 27th May 1990 as the first S-Bahn system in Switzerland in the Canton of Zürich and the neighbouring regions. It is operated by several railway companies and forms a part of the Zürcher Verkehrsverbunds (ZVV). The Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) are responsible for the planning and marketing of the ZVV. The operational concept of the Zürich S-Bahn is to offer direct connections between regions and at the same time a regular short-interval service in the city centre.
