Prototype: Many different railway carriages and goods wagons also remained in French territory following the retreat of German troops. SNCF used these wagons and entered them into their inventory. Consequently, it was possible to offset a small part of their own war losses. The "foreign wagons" taken from the DRG also included some vehicles belonging to the Dresden class that were used and deployed at SNCF using the L class designation.
