Product Features and Details
Until the State Railway Association was founded by the German Regional Railroads, the Saxon State Railway painted its freight cars light grey. The lettering on the vehicles was in a coloured serif typeface with a shadow. Technical information was yellow, whereas car numbers and ownership details were in red. After 1909, freight cars in Saxony were also painted reddish brown and the standard typeface according to design IV44 was introduced. As at that time there was also great cost-awareness, cars were not completely repainted during every inspection and therefore grey cars with the new typeface also came into circulation.
