The DRG was dissolved shortly after the reclassification of all Prussian T 8s, so only a few still bore their number plates as the 89.0 class. Many were sold, some to private railways, others to Reichsbahnausbesserungswerke (railway repair shops), where they were used as shop locomotives. One of these locomotives which survived in these services for an especially long time was 89 066. It was used in the Schwerte RAW (Reichsbahn repair shop) at first, and returned there after use in the Mülheim – Speldorf line. It wasn’t dismantled until 1964, as the last Prussian T 8 in the Bundesbahn zone.
