Prototype: The class BB 16000s of the French Railways are the AC equivalent of the SNCF's BB9200 series locomotives. Sixty-two BB 16000s were built from 1958 to 1963 to serve as passenger engines on the East and Northwest networks of SNCF. During their time they hauled freight trains as well, but their primary use was on passenger services. Most notably they pulled Corail coaches throughout their careers. The BB16000s developed 5540 HP and reached a maximum speed of 105 MPH (160 KPH). The BB 16000s ran on SNCF's northern network until their retirement in December of 2012.
Model: The Roco 73342 French Class BB 16054 is a very impressive model with exceptional running performance and extensive detail. The model is equipped with a powerful 5 pole motor with flywheel, Plux22 dcc receptacle, full cab interiors, sprung loaded pantographs, intricate roof details and much more. Model also has LED headlights that coordinate with direction of travel and all the modern technology available on the market today.
