Model: Diesel railcar BR 798 DB Ep. IV without destination display. The AC model is already factory-fitted with a suitable PluX22 decoder. Because the single-engine rail buses of the VT 95 series did not prove their worth either as solo vehicles or as sidecars, the DB developed the twin-engine VT98 series in 1953, especially for steep junctions. In order to use this vehicle as universally as possible, its use was provided with control car and multiple control. Equipped with regular pull and push devices (screw couplings and spring buffers), the new diesel railcar could also transport individual freight cars. From 1955, the Bundesbahn took over 329 railcars, 310 control cars and 320 sidecar. Their rational, cost-effective use earned them the title "rescuer of the branch lines".
