Model: Anniversary locomotive 70 years PIKO - limited edition - At the beginning of the seventies, DB had a great need for electric locomotives for top speeds up to 160 km / h, which were to fulfill the performance program of the 110 series and replace older electric locomotives. The initially planned replica of the class 110 retired because of the now obsolete technology, but parts of the unit locomotive should be included in the projected, also four-axle Series 111. Between 1974 and 1984, 227 locomotives were manufactured by the participating companies Krauss-Maffei, Henschel, Krupp, Siemens, AEG and BBC. In comparison to the 110 locomotive, smoothness was improved, new bogies were used and a more modern design was chosen for the new vehicles. Design in attractive silver design.
