Product Features and Details
Prototype: The locomotives of the class E 41 (designated 141 from 1968 on) were first delivered to the German Federal Railways (DB) in 1956. They were used on mainlines for the light and mixed traffic and reached a maximum speed of 120 km / h and had a continuous power output of 2.310 kW. The E 41/141 series wore many different colour schemes of the DB. The series was painted cobalt blue, chromium oxide green, ocean blue-beige, oriental red, orange-pebble gray and finally traffic red. From March of 1987 a number of the locomotives received an oriental red finish which some of them kept until their retirement in 2006. At the DB shops in Fulda you can still find 141 161-0 in oriental red livery. It is used regularly in emergency drills during which railroad workers learn how to re-rail rolling stock. All 141 locomotives featured a 36 pin control system that allowed them to operate the first push-pull trains in Germany.
