The Austrian 180 Class 0-10-0 steam locomotive was another unique and exquisite locomotive designed by the famous Austrian locomotive builder Larl Gölsdorf who also designed the famous 110, 210, 310, 380 and etc. Micro-Metakit's produced these models in 1998. The prototype was a beautiful locomotive, as some variations of the 180 had large diamond smoke stacks and copper smoke boxes.The 180 was used for heavy freight service on mountainous terrain. During WWII, when the Germans occupied Austria, the Deutsche Reichsbahn renumbered these locomotives to BR 57 and painted them in the DRG black and red livery. The 180 is handmade out of brass, it's equipped with a brushless, ironless "Faulhaber" motor, full cab interior, functional boiler hatch with inner boiler details. Model is a masterpiece and features too many technical and optical details to list. Each version was produced in quantities of 60 each.View a larger image of this exquisite model (48kb).
