K.Bay.Sts.B. S2/5 Baldwin "Vauclain"
and DRG BR 14.131

Baldwin Vauclain

The Baldwin "Vauclain" S2/5 was a very unique locomotive because of it's "Vauclain" 4 cylinder drive. You will notice in the photo below that above the 2nd driver and rear axle that the model has a belt attached to two small wheels, the belt was the speedometer cable which is functional on the model.

Although the S2/5 was also a 4 cylinder locomotive, its drive system was very different compared to other 4 cylinder locomotives of the period. The high efficiency piston was constructed above the low efficiency piston. Conventional 4 cylinder locomotives were designed with the high efficiency pistons positioned in the middle of the locomotive and the low efficiency pistons on both front sides of the locomotive.

Baldwin's "Vauclain S2/5" was extremely unique in design and nature and Micro-Metakit's model is completely functional just like the prototype. The model has functional speedometer cable and "Vauclain" 4 cylinder drive. This excellent model also features a brushless "Faulhaber" motor, full cab interior, functional boiler hatch with inner boiler. The S2/5 is handmade out of brass is available in six versions, 60 pieces each.
