Model: Engine with flywheel. Drive on four axles, two traction tires. Four pantographs. NEM 362 Coupler pocket with short coupling kinematics. LED headlight white / red alternating with the direction of travel.

In 2017, the Austrian Federal Railways launched an invitation to tender for the procurement of a total of 200 new locomotives, which are mainly to be used in freight transport. There were extensive test drives on the main lines with heavy freight trains. In the summer the decision was made on the company Siemens and in a first step 30 locomotives were called up immediately. Under the serial number 1293, the Vectron locomotives will be delivered to ÖBB in several stages.
