Prototype: The Class 4061 of the Austrian Railways was a combination locomotive/baggage car. It was used in intercity service where a baggage car was not needed.  Twenty-five 4061s were delivered to the OBB in 1956. They had a 1600kW power output and reached a top speed of 77 MPH (125KPH).  In the 1970s, the 4061s were reclassified as 1046s. In the 1980s, several 1046s were rebuilt with dual voltage propulsion systems, allowing them to travel into Hungary. Beginning in 1987 and lasting to 1994, thirteen 1046s were completely rebuilt, and these lasted in service until 2003, when the last 1046s were retired.
