Prototype: The BR 58 originally came out in the early 1900's as the Prussian G10. With it large boiler and 2-10-0 wheel configeration it was a powerful locomotive. In the early 1920's the Deutsche Reichsbahn re-classified the G10 to BR58. The BR 58 was one of the strongest German locomotives produced, they remained in service under the Deutsche Bundesbahn until the late 1970's
Model: This is the first Rivarossi Steam Locomotive produced under the new Hornby ownership and WOW have they created a fantastic model. The new BR 58 is incredible the model is extremly detailed and is equipped with a five pole can motor with flywheel. Motor is mounted in the locomotive for smooth operation.
