Mass production of the DR moderni-sation coaches began in 1961. Passenger coaches were built with seating for 1st class, 1st/2nd class and 2nd class. From 1962 onwards a small number of buffet cars and luggage vans were built. Lettering and coachwork correspond to period III. Insert windows, close couplings and NEM pocket are also fitted. These coaches have been prepared for the installation of interior lighting # 56100.
