Prototype: For regional transport the German Reich Railways ordered in 1925/26 a total of 15 four-axle railcar at the wagon factory Wismar. These DMUs were finally 1926-1928 in two series delivered (VT 853-861 and 866-871 VT). The vehicles were powered by a strong 150 hp (later 175 hp) Maybach engine with a mechanical four-speed gear train with a dummy shaft in front bogie, which was connected through side rods with the two sets of wheels.
