KM1 Prussian Class T16.1 Tank Locomotive

Prototype: This locomotive of the Prussian Class T16 which entered series production in 1913 counts as one of the longest lived and most successful Freight Locomotives. They were not only powerful Shunting Locomotives but were also successfully used on steep hills and on Rack Lines when used in straight adhesion. In total 1236 locomotives were procured first for the Prussia and later the DRG. With the DB the last 94’s were taken out of service in 1974. The Class 94.5 earned a reputation as a Universal Locomotive. It was a heavy Shunting as well as Freight and Passenger Locomotive. Even today many of these locomotives can still be seen steaming in Railway Museum Train usage or as Static Memorials to Technology.
