Prototype: The 03 1010 was delivered as a 3 cylinder streamlined locomotive by Borsig-Lokomotiv-Werke on Novemeber 7th, 1940. This class was designed for express trains with a maximum speed of 140km/h. The locomotive was based in Grunewald, Breslau and Leipzig. After 1945 it was owned by Deutsche Reichsbahn. All class 03.10 locomotives, owned by DR, were refurbished at RAW Meiningen because of damages at the boiler in 1959. These locomotives were used for the heavy express train services between Berlin and Stralsund.
After refurbishment the 03 1010 was based at VESM Halle as a test unit. On November 1st, 1974 the locomotive got its new home in Stralsund. On May 31st, 1980 the 03 1010 was the last class 03.10 express train service from Berlin to Stralsund. During the 1982 refurbishment the firebox was changed from oil to coal. Today the 03 1010 is an operable historic locomotive.
