Since the DB had taken over about 2700 and thus only a fraction of the built wagons and suffered from massive wagon shortage, it had reproduced 6190 wagons with a reinforced body
frame from 1948 to 1950. From 1951 onwards, the wagons were designated as Gmhs 35, and many of them were placed into the newly established EUROP pool. After sufficient newly built vehicles were available as from 1960, the Gmhs 35 were withdrawn from the EUROP pool.
