Product Features and Details
In 1951, new powerful steam locomotives were to modernise the aged fleet of locomotives run by Deutsche Reichsbahn in GDR. The corresponding construction programme stated 7 different locomotive types necessary for this purpose. Four types were in fact eventually built. The tender locomotive BR 65.10 was built in the former Prussian performance category P 8 and T 18. After elimination of the design faults, the BR 65.10 turned out to be a reliable, popular locomotive. It was frequently used in peak rush hour traffic with many short distances between stations. It was finally taken out of service in 1978.
