Every year during the sugar beet campaign, the SBB require many more open cars, as almost 90% of the harvest is transported by rail for further processing. In addition to "plundering" the freely available EUROP car pool, this demand used to be covered by renting further cars from neighbouring railways. For example, the DB and SNCF provided cars.
