Product Features and Details
In the GDR, brown coal was the main source of energy. For this reason, the DR kept a large stock of open cars of standard and special types. The punctual provision of empty cars for open-cast mining and for briquette factories was the top priority. Therefore, many of the Om "Königsberg" purchased by the DRG from 1927 onwards were still in use in the 1970s. Some were provided with new side walls made of steel, many had their brakes removed for more rational maintenance and all now had computer numbers - but they were still recognisable as classic Reichsbahn freight cars.
