Product Features and Details
At almost every railway administration, the Verbandsbauart freight car - freight car in a design standardised by the Deutsche Staatsbahnwagen-Verband (German Railway Wagon Association) - of Class A2 had a direct forerunner. Whereas the main dimensions were mostly the same for tariff reasons, the cars differed much more in appearance. Characteristic features of the "Sachsen" were the diagonal end panel struts and the door with two vertical profiles. Often these features were adapted to the Prussian cars during inspections or the doors completely replaced. Nevertheless, the DR also took over cars in the original Saxon design after 1945.
