Prototype: The Swiss private railways were quick to agree upon the procurement of goods wagons that were largely identical in construction, the so-called "Reform" wagons. The closed wagon design was a relatively short with a loading space of 18 m•. From 1902 onwards, these wagons with a 12.5 t loading weight and a loading volume of between 40 and 44 m• were given the K2 designation. The SBB state railway that was founded in 1903 allowed the wagons in the 5 m wheel base design to be reproduced for a long period of time. Their goods wagons were painted iron grey up until 1955.
