Model Details:
Prototype: While the Reko coaches initially had an attractive paint coating with a black solebar and a white decorative stripe, these were more and more simplified over the years. First, the decorative stripe was omitted in the mid-70ies, and contrasting of the black solebar was also sacrificed in the early 80ies. Only the BDghwse coaches benefitted from the new bicolour paint for express train coaches that had been tested on four Bghwe coaches in the 70ies in Zwickau. The day coaches remained single-coloured and only received the fawn-coloured roof during necessary inspections. A prototype coach which had received, among other things, new sliding windows, was indeed completed with a view to a planned modernisation, but this modification rapidly went by the a side in the course of the political upheavals in the GDR. Massive declines in traffic and the procurement of new coaches rendered the Bghwe coaches dispensable by 1995; the day coaches/ baggage cars followed shortly after. They carried their newly assigned type numbers 522 and 534 only for two years.
