As a further development of the E 77 DRG ordered 1,926 more electric locomotives for use in the southern and central Germany network. While the electrical equipment remained almost unchanged, a new one-piece chassis was constructed with the wheel arrangement 1'BB1'. The locomotive body was similar to the E Series 061. The amendments to the drive set to the speed limit to 70 km / h fixed and hoped that a better usability in mixed plans for passenger and freight trains. Of the planned 79 locomotives E 75 01-12 arrived in Southern Germany, the E75 51-69 were delivered to Leipzig West, truth, Bitterfeld and Magdeburg-Buckau.
