Prototype: Vor rund 50 Jahren, am 4. August 1964, stellte die Deutsche Bundesbahn die erste von später insgesamt 511 gelieferten Lokomotiven der Baureihen V90/290 und 291 von Mak in Dienst. Die Lokomotiven waren für den schweren Rangier- und Übergabedienst entwickelt worden. Um den Betrieb zu vereinfachen wurde eine Vielzahl der Lokomotiven mit Funkfernsteuerung und automatischer Kupplung ausgerüstet, was man durch die Vergabe der neuen Baureihen 294, 295 und 296 von außen sichtbar machte. Die Lokomotivfamilie ist bis heute zuverlässig im Einsatz und erst mit Erscheinen der neuen Voith Gravita lässt die DB AG die ersten Lokomotiven der BR 291/295 aus dem Unterhaltungsbestand ausscheiden.

It is possible to retrospectively convert the Diesel Locomotive V 90 from analogue to digital via a PluX22 interface (only sound functions). Please note that it is not possible to retrospectively convert the digital remotecontrol coupling, the driven fan or the additional light functions.
