Prototype: As a basis for the BR 98.10 Bavarian GTL 4/4, which was built as a series 98.8-9 still served until 1928. Boiler and engine were taken largely unchanged, but adds the drive to a trailing axle. This allowed the placement of larger inventories than the old GTL 4/4 and at 5 km / h higher top speed. From 1929 to 1933 a total of 45 pieces of queued as class 98.10 locomotives were manufactured. Supplier of all locomotives was the company Krauss in Munich. Striking was the built during the first 33 locomotives feed water purifier, which was, however, not proven and later expanded again.
