The DR in the Soviet occupation zone after 1945 laid claim to thirteen 191 locomotives, of which at least eight were operational. Although the ownership status was already unclear at this time, various locomotives underwent extensive examination, as the shortage of vehicles was simply too great. They were used by the Zwickau depot and Erfurt P. By 1955, the last units were returned to the PKP, where they provided several more years of service.
