In the 30s, the old Württemberg four-axle vehicles were gradually decommissioned. At this time, some of them had been in service for 80 years.
However, this decommissioning did not mean the end for the Methusalahs. They were still used as construction and work trains. In this function, some of them were even in service for the Deutsche Bundesbahn and thus achieved a working age of over 100 years.
